The smoke clears. The eyes are aware. The panic is threatened.
Life is a series of moments that back track and fly forward seemingly all at once. When you feel like you have a grip on things, the proverbial rug is yanked from beneath your feet. My moment of clarity comes in the form of realizing not to flail at this sudden absence. I’m going to flail regardless, but at least I’m recognizing that I shouldn’t. So maybe I can stop when I’ve taken a better look at the length between my feet and the ground. The point is to become aware.
